OK, let's see if I understand. It seems like you just want a set of speakers so you can play around with whatever you record, basically sit back, listen to it and enjoy that which you create.
If you're not worried about producing professional results, and initially don't really care what your music sounds like anywhere else, then there are lot of options in your price range.
Right now, Sam Ash has a sale on a little pair of Samson powered monitors with an iPod dock on them for like fifty bucks. You can mix, tweak, listen and enjoy to your heart's desire. They're plenty good enough to hone some skills with, and if you ever want to move to the next level you can use them as an iPod dock elsewhere.
But, be aware, once you get some mad skillz mixing on these puppies, you may be surprised/frustrated/disappointed when your masterpieces sound totally different on other systems.
