I need to purchase a pair of powered monitors for a small home studio of approximately 160 sq ft. I'm between the KRK V4 Series 2 and KRK V6 Series 2. The differences between the two are in power (90 vs 120 watts) and woofers (4 vs 6 inches). The other not insignificant difference is price: $250 vs $350 per monitor. So the question is this: are the differences in power and woofers worth $100?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Well is space a problem? Keep that in mind cause the V6 will be a little bigg er than the V4. If money is not an issue and space isnt either I say go for the V6's.

Sound quality wise, I would say the price difference is well worth it:)

I'd go V6 if their your only ones....if V4, a sub would help.

B.A., my two cents. I have a very small, quirky home studio space and am unable to treat it much (a shared space). I have no experience with KRK monitors, but my suggestion is this: if you can find a way, buy both models and compare them side-by-side in your home. I did this a couple of years ago, comparing some 5" active monitors with a 6.5" model. For me, in my cramped space, the 5" had too late low end, and the 6.5" had way too much. I had problems working with either system, which led my to other alternatives. Since I liked the smaller size of the 5", I decided to try adding an 8" sub (hidden under my desk) and voila--a very useable system that I could tweak a bit to better fit my room. I've become a 2.1 fan, at least for my place, but some careful speaker placement and plenty of integration time are necessary. But I wouldn't have known this without some direct comparisons in my space.
