ok so maybe the 993s seem nice but have yall heard anything about the superlux SMKH8K stereo matched pair .... they are really cheap but i have heard good bang for the buck things about superlux

Those superlux mics are cheap electrets, there are some good electrets out there - AT3035, AKG C2000B etc. but 90% of electret mics are crap.

I'd go with a pair of B1s, 993s or a oktavas.

ok i think im ganna decide on the b1s but i found where i can get a pair of mxl 2003 for cheaper than a pair of b1s and i was wondering if the 2003 compare to the b1s and if anyone has any sound clips of the two mics
thanks

You can go to thelisteningsessions.com and get a comparison of them on guitar.

I have the V93M, which is essentially the same thing as the 2003. They are a very detailed mic (thanks to the thinner diaphram in the capsule and slightly larger diameter than a typical LDC) and are sometimes criticized for being on the bright side. I have gotten nice stereo pair recordings of choirs and small ensembles with the. I have also been using them for broadcast VO but am less satisfied with that and am saving my pennies for either a SM7, RE20, or a Ribbon instead. Most folks regard the B1 as a more neutral mic than the 2003. I have never used them on drum overheads so I cannot say how well they would work on them but my gut reaction is that the 993 that I mentioned earlier or the B1 would be better. One thing about the 2003 and maybe also the B1 is that it is a fairly heavy mic so unless you had a fairly heavy mic stand positioning them over the set might be a trick.
