hi everyone! this is my first post on this forum. wow! you can actually access this forum whenever, unlike HC. no offense to HC.

my question is, which boom mic stand should i get for my bedroom studio? my proposed project studio consists of an SM57 and SP B-1 going into a M-Audio Omni Studio. i'll be using both mics for a 2x12 combo amp speaker grill/back. the B-1 will be used for vox, too.

that said, which boom mic stands should i get? i just need a pair that can mic the stuff i listed above. now i've looked over the various reputable online retailers, the best deal i see are the OnStage boom stands from MF for $20. it has a 33" "fixed" boom. is this an adequate length/height to mic the sweet spots on an typical combo amp without any problems? do i need something more flexible? ie "telescoping"

you guys can assess what kind of budget/quality this rig consists of.

thanx!

Just buy whatever works? Heh.. any boom stand should do the job.. as long as it gets to the spot you want.

I got an onstage boom mic stand and it doesn't work! the bolt that holds and adjust the boom stripped. I've made replacement bolts which have also stripped. I will never buy an onstage stand again. I also have an Axman boom mic stand thats pretty cheap, but it has held up fine. I would recommend against the onstage mic stand.
