AKG D112

Shure Beta 52A

Sennheiser e602

Shure Beta 91

Audio-Technica ATM25

Audix D6 Sub Impulse

These are the only kick drum mics my $$ can afford. I'm just looking for the best results for the leat amount of money.

the AKG D112 is probably the closest thing to an industry standard for kick drum mics, but I use the sennheisser e602 and am getting very good results very easily. I've seen a bunch of other great things about the e602, so you should really consider getting it.

They're all good mics (I personally don't like the Shure kick mics), but the best bang for your buck is the ATM25 for $139 at most online places. Audix D6 is a awesome mic too.

The Audix D6 Sub Impulse is a good one. i use audix all the time. I use a D1 on my snare and high hat, i have 4 D2's one for each tom, then i have 2 D4's for my floor toms and a 2 D6's for my bass drums. Audix is a great sounding mic. that'll be a good one.

Mic selection

I ended up bying an AKG D112. I searced ebay for days and this seemed to be the best deal:

AKG D112 for $112.00. Thanks for all of your suggestions though. I just couldn't pass up such a deal.

I hope I get the sound I want now......

the D112 has a classic sound to it. If you want a more modern scooped sound, the D6 is the way to go. Such an amazing mic.

Ive had amazing results with the shure beta series. the 52 is used in a lot of studios these days, and the shure 91 simply is amazing. it sits right in the drum. cant get a more 'in your face' sound than that
