Well, um ... ya see ... I use a clean sounding pre. But only when I want, well ... uh ... a cleaner sound.

And I use a dirty pre when I ... hmmm ... want, well, .... uh ... a dirtier sound.

Yea.
Could you please clarify that statment, but without all the technical jargon???

I do mostly rock...I wouldn't call any of my pres dirty..That sounds ugly to me. I would call them colorfull..

The 1272 can work on overheads depends on the drums and the drummer. Sometimes the 1272 is to soft sounding.

yes I can hear the "softness". you love that chandler; If I asked you what pre u thought is "crisp" what are the chances you'll answer with that one?

No...The LDT-1 is a Neve 1073 style. It's not as soft as 1272. the TG2 is closer- They are more Neve mixed with API tone.

Out of what I have crisp would be Great River... Still not as clean as others. but I don't like super clean for what I do. My extra pres for over flow are M80 that I put burr Brown op-amps in. and 2 VTB1's.
