Hello,

I've been using a few sites to try to meet musicians who want to start a band in the Tampa area, but am finding them to not follow through. I've been stood up twice and people just stop sending e-mails before we're going to jam. It sucks I really wanna start a band, but am not finding the right people at all.......I wish there was a forum in here, but it doesn't look like there is.

Anyone know of a good place or website to find good musicians in my area?

Thanks and rock on!

I don't mean this to come off as sounding like an ass. But you have a much better chance of finding performing musicians at places where they may be - vs. talking about it on line (no disrepect meant to the members of this community).

The Tampa area has plenty of live music venues and I would guess more than a few open jam nights or open mic nights. Go there and either perform or approach other performers. If you are good and perform at open jams - musicians will find you.

Musicians often can be found at music stores (I'm thinking Tampa has a few of those) - and you can often either post or find "want ads". Often the guys that work at music stores are in bands, have friends in bands and know bands - as around.

Don't get discouraged if some "musicians" flake on you - on a whole, musicians tend to be less dependable than most other groups of people (hey -nobody trash me - we all know its true:D). Sometimes you have to expose yourself to a lot of flakes, and want-a-be's before you can find the right players.

Have you tried E-Harmony? They oughta have some singers I guess......

Oh, and try Denny's at 3:00 a.m., seriously, the working bands are there!

MikeH,

Thanks for your input. I agree about finding people....in person, but have been pretty shy about putting my stuff out there, but I'm now up to doing some jams.

I have heard of a few around and will get ready to do some and see what happens.

Rock hard!

Your welcome, your shyness.

Hmm, your tag says you're from Atlanta, but you're looking for musicians in Tampa. That IS a long drive.

I guess you're the one who's stuck up, I've been chatting away in several posts, and you don't even acknowledge the fact. No wonder people disconnect..........

mikemorgan,

I'm not stuck up at all! And what are you talking about, acknowledge what fact?

I just moved back to Tampa and have not come here since I moved, I guess I should change it....

Rock on,
-Chase
