where to download effects?

hey, i am new with cakewalk, and i was wondering if there is anywhere to download cakewalk effects and plugins for free, ive found a few that seemed good, but you had to "purchase the download" so i was just wondering if there were any sites with freeware effects / plugins..

Yeah, I've found the plug-list to be the best one (or at least it has the most I've seen in one spot and you can filter the results, i.e. only have it search for free DirectX effects.

some decent DirectX freebies you can find on the plug-in list are:

The Blueline plugs are a decent DirectX plug-in pack with all the regulars (reverb, compression, parametric EQ, flange, phaser and several others)

Andwida Software's DX Reverb Light I like quite a bit.

Ohmforce's Frohmage is a pretty cool free filter.

That's just off the top of my head. If you happen to own a VST-DX wrapper, you will have a great deal more to choose from as far as freeware.
