I like it sounds pretty good to me. It kinda has a Tom Petty feel to it, which is pretty cool to me. Nice tune.

The vocal sounds distant to me, I hear a closer, more upfront vocal sound for this type of song. IDK?

Thank you so much for the nice words!!

And I guess I mixed the vocals like that cause im so nervous about my voice so i try to hide it....damn! haha

only one word: wow.. I'm feeling your music... I'd just put the vocals a bit more louder

oh man thanks! you get it then, i try to put so much feeling and honesty and meaning....and sorrow sadly...haha--but thanks so much!!!

great stuff

I love it. now first off I am not a pro. I have read a ton and played around a bit with mixing. here are just a few things I would try. equalize the vocal to bring down the high middle part of your range. I didn't check the exact freq. just play with the eq a bit. also, maybe a little compression on the vocal. in addition possibly a little distortion and/or a double vocal delayed ever so slightly to give it more presence.

That being said I really, really like the intros they really set up nicely. one last thing-play with the tempo a bit. even though you are trying to be heartfelt, heartbroken, sad, your listener will get that through your lyrics, don't make them suffer a slow brooding musical as well. some of the best records of the last fifty years were mid to upbeat tempo songs with passionate, dark lyrics.

this is only my thoughts on some things to try, I'm sure others might have much different advice.

just some things to try--good luck.

djembe!

Im hearing a djembe right? I love the tune, and I want to know what your recording set up is like for the djembe. It is a difficult instrument to record! However I feel the high slap tones of the djembe could use a boost in the recording.

cheers!

yep thats a dejembe, thank you everyone for the kind words and i think you all make valid points--and they'll help make my mixes better--thanks!!

I am thinking of re-recording all my solo songs from scratch....do it better......make my own lil' album
