Hi,

I'm just wondering where I can purchase a detailed instruction manual on how to do restoring/servicing on older Teac decks. Specifically, I'm looking for ways to disassemble and clean the various mechanisms, re-lub 'em, clean this and that etc .... in a sense restore to the original condition. I'm talking about decks that do not need repair but that were stored and mostly unused for years and need someone to bring 'em back to life. I know that there are Sony manuals like this from "Vintage Electronics" but none specific to Teac.

Thanks in advance!

Daniel :)

On a recent trip to my local Public Library, I was able to find a good selection of electronic theory and maintenance text books that covered all the servicing issues one might encounter on older open reel recorders.

I guess since the advent of the Internet, people have forgotten about their good old libraries?

Cheers! :)

I'll hit the library at once! :)

Thanks!

?

I drive by it every day.

;)

Before going to the library, I checked their online catalog and they had quite a few under Magnetic Recorders including all the Stereo Review mags from the 60's and into the 70's and 80's but here are my options for tape recorder repairs:

Pictorial guide to tape recorder repairs, by Forest Belt. Details & copies
by Belt, Forest H.
Tab Books [1973]

Tape recorder servicing guide / by Robert G. Middleton. Details & copies
by Middleton, Robert Gordon, 1908-
H. W. Sams, c1979.

Ever hear of these 2 ?

Thanks!

Daniel

Yes, I believe I have seen both of these in the past.

Lend out both!

In my area, a three week lend is normal policy.

Cheers! :)
