Nature of Force
Hey Guys.

I know every single one of you have carried a pick (or several) in your pocket and lost it (or them). I have to say the weirdest place I found my pick was in the back of my toilet. You know, where you take the top off and it has all the tubes and water and stuff. Then there are the common places, like the dryer, the couch, underneath dressers, in other pants, etc. Where do your picks go?

I don't know. If I knew where they went I'd still have them. But I do know that there's one inside my acoustic right now.

Yeah, you're right. Oohh can't forget about the classic "pick in acoustic shtick"

I have an old fashion gumball machine in the studio and every time I need one that is where I know I'll find them, for I empty my pockets of my picks into that .....so do a lot of other people in an attempt to fill it! :D

But I had this dog once that just loved to chew them up for me, you would see half or quarter pieces of picks in his turds all the time.....that cool old bastard.

I don't know where they go....I just know that they are in a better place.

R.I.P.

Somewhere in another dimension, there are millions of socks filled with billions of picks!

There is that dam pick fairy that goes into every musicians house at night and leaves a penny and takes your picks.

Isn't she the tooth pick fairy ?
I still say she's casing the joint in preparation for a serious robbery ! But I can't prove it....

true story here ...

around 1979 I was on the road up in Illinois and just prior to going on stage we started talking about this very thing ..... where the hell do picks go?
So we were just laughing and kidding around and one guy said, "Let's see where they go" so we all stood around in a circle and watched carefully as the guitarist held out a pick in the middle of our circle and dropped it. We were just screwing around.
We all watched it fall and hit the concrete floor and BAM! it disappeared!
It just vanished when it hit the floor, I guess it bounced so quickly your eye didn't catch it.
So we looked all around and it was nowhere to be found. Well it was time to play so we turned to leave the dressing room and one guy took a step and said, "Wait a minute ..... I got something in my shoe" and reached down and yep, it was the pick which had somehow bounced into his shoe!

:laughings:

I have thousands of picks and I've never ever paid for one. Being a drummer, I'm usually last off the stage with all my shit. After multiple bands play and by the time I'm loading off, there's dozens of picks laying around the stage. I scoop em up. Same thing with band practice. The guys drop picks and just leave em, so I grab em. I could easily open an online plectrum supply website. I've literally got em all. I even have a bronze triangle bass pick somewhere.

Do you have my titanium pick?

I once had a friend that made me a pick of titanium. It took him a while and several attempts because titanium is very difficult to work with. It was exactly the shape and thickness of my regular picks and it was freakin' awesome!

I lost it in a week.

I could make a titanium pick if I had the material, and yeah, Ti is a bitch to deal with sometimes. It's been a while since I actually made anything significant out of titanium. I think my last creation was a diff spool for a C/E Dragster. Expensive stuff.

My Mother in law gave my five year old son a Ukelele a few months ago and because his older brother is learning guitar and has a pick or two, he wanted a pick as well. So I got him a couple and you guessed it, they regularly disappear ! I find them everywhere in the house.
Evidently, it starts young.

the worst is when you drop it mid-strum and it flies under the bed or somethin and its gone forever. picks are like aerodynamic or something.

Maybe someone could implant some sort of tiny LED in each pick that is operated by remote control when we lose them.

Being a classically trained guitarist.... my picks have to grow right out of my finger tips. ;) If I lose any of them, there is something gravely wrong.

Losing picks had long been a mysterious, frustrating plague for me. I can be playing, put my pick down for a second to take a sip of beer, and lose it instantly, being nowhere to be found within a 5 meter radius of myself.

I'll buy 12 picks, lose all but 2 of them in about a week, search my apartment top to bottom and not find anything.

I swear they just "dissapear".

I think I would lose less if I just bought them 1 or 2 at a time, that way they would be more 'precious' and I'd be more careful about keeping track of them.

Oh and cats certainly dont help the situation :p

At our local GC they have a huge bowl full of picks -red with their name and number- for people to use and take as a sort of promo/business card.
I usually fill my pocket. :D :spank: :D
