when to add effects

Should i apply my reverb and other effects before or after compression and limiting??? In my mixes the reverb makes my vocals sound so "big" , like they take up the whole frequency spectrum instead of sitting just in the middle of the mix. What should i do to tighten it up so i only hear the reverb (and the vocal) in the middle of the mix. It must be something with my EQ settings, too. Thanks

Do you mean you want the verb to be narrower -more panned in?

Yes! thats exactly what i mean. cuz right now its all over the place and it really doesnt mix well.

Most quality reverbs have the ability to tailor the response frequencies of the 'verb. Use that.

Myself I can't stand reverb over 10khz or under 400hz. I get rid of that hissy mud.
