meanwhile, remember this brand?
lg_Acoustic150bBassAmp.jpg

we used to use an 'acoustic' brand pa system ca '76.

I had an Acoustic brand bass amp (model 450) in the 70's, was the best bass rig in its day. Used to use it with 2 x W sub bins for a while then a 2x15 cab.

A rehearsal studio near me is still using a Acoustic Powered PA head in one off the rooms, just keeps going.

I do remember the Kustom gear as well, looked good in cabaret bands ha ha ha.

Alan.

I've got one of these.

But I haven't seen it forever it being in storage.

Some prices. Best rig i had was 2 Kustom amps with 3 15's in each cab and a home made cabinet with 2 Altec 421A 15 in speakers. The Altec's had 18 LB magnets. 8 15 inch speakers/400 watts/ 73 4001 Ric. Almost Heaven:D

Plus rodies!

not familiar with mr. gerst...
That would be me.

Actually, I had connections to both companies; I designed a lot of the old Acoustic Control amplifiers, AND I designed the JBL D110F, the D120F, the D130F, and the D140F speakers that Bud Ross used in his Kustom amps (as well as in Fender, Standel, Sunn, Rickenbackers, and a few other companies).

wow! cool!
edit-i used a fender bassman (among others) with a separate 2-15" cab. for years. good amp.

Neat, our bass player plays that model/color. Just a wonderful sound and bulletproof design. How solid state got from that point to its current state I will never understand.

I remember those Kustoms! One of my high school garage bands lusted after a Kustom PA, after a slightly older guy offered to manage our band AND provide the PA. He wasn't scamming us, no money exchanged hands, I just think it just fell apart. Ah, memories.

I played bass thru high school and into college. My amp was a Vox Essex Bass- 2 12's, 60 watts, "Volume" and "Tone-X" were the only two knobs, plus an on-off-on switch and a sustain foot switch that never seemed to do that much.

Actually, I still own the guts of that amp- it got stolen by a kid up the street I lived on, about a decade later, who hacked out the 12's for his boom-box car and left the HDF cab in the rain. I recovered it, but the cab was done for. Took the chassis (three part!) out, and it's been in a box for the last twenty years. Heck, I'd sell it, as-is, for $100.

D130. Wow. Fabulous speaker. I put one of those in my Leslie 147 along with a Altec 808a driver way back in in 1975. It still sounds amazing today. And that's after playing solo and using the pedals for at least five years after my road band days. It totally rocks. Bass players loved their D140's too. But I don't remember the F designation you mentioned.

The "F" series was the musical instrument versions of the standard D131 and D130 hifi speakers, plus two new models; the D110F and the D140F. If your D130 has a light coating of oil on the outer edge of the cone, it's a D130F.

I just sold a black Kustom 100 head and 1 x 15 cab. It included the covers for both that had never been used. I got it from the estate of the original owner. It was near perfect, just a little pitting on the metal of the handles. I'm looking for a blue sparkle one like I had in the 70s-80s
