V1
I have learned the message
Memorized her words
No sense in suicide
She would follow me
into the great beyond
She's a priceless angel
the one who steers me wrong
My heart is borderline
still she stabs at me
With her blades of love
(she taught me)

CH1
Two-by-two the couples pair up
One-by-one each heart is broken
In the end what does it matter
If I fall for what is gone
Day-by-day I live to hold her
Night-by-night I sleep without her
In the end what does it matter
For her love I'd sell my soul
When the reaper calls

V2
Will faith absolve the sin
of how I worship her
No sense in going on
She would banish me
into the grave below
She's a tease who I need
but she denies my love
Her body's sold in shame
She's the devil's ride
in her hell on earth
(I've learned that)

BR
There's only one more chance
It always comes again
There's hope in hanging on
but there's no hope to win

CH2
Two-by-two the couples pair up
One-by-one each heart is broken
In the end what does it matter
If I die for what I've lost
Day-by-day I live to hold her
Night-by-night I sleep without her
In the end what does it matter
For her love I'd sell my soul

Reading the title, I was expecting some Death Metal....:D
Pretty good pop song though, nice keys arrangement. Is that a manipulated voice, or does it really sound like that? Drums could come up a bit (said the metal guy.....:p) Nice work, Joseph.

Joey :):):):)

Thanks for listening and the kind words. Your point is well taken on the drum volume.

The voice is just mine, overdubbed, with some reverb and a little delay in select spots.

Cheers,
Joseph :)

The reverb on the vocals seems to be a bit much.

I like the guitars; they've got a classic America sound to them.

That's an interesting vibe, and it's easy to listen to. Don't yell at me here, but the vocal processing and the style almost reminds me a bit of the Bee Gees!!!

With the drums not changing and the melody repeating without a lot of variation, it gets somewhat repetitive...that would be my only negative song comment.

As far as the mix, the vocals are kind of sibilant, and yeah, I think the reverb is accentuating it, but for this sound, I think you almost have to have that much reverb.

Thanks for sharing this. It's nice.

Thanks for the listening and the comments, Steve and Chris. Your points about the reverb were well taken. I remixed it this evening and throttled back slightly.

Chris, your comparison to the Bee Gees was appreciated. Barry Gibb has been my greatest musical influence since I was 7. The guy is a genius. I learned early on that the fastest way to woman's heart was sending her Gibb compositions! :-)

...well, at least that was true in days gone by. Heh.

Cheers,
Joseph

Joseph,
the reverb causes extra sib. You may not need it at all with the double tracked vox. Try it dry & with a deesser.
Really nice song - I quite like the current drum level.

Yeah, the title of this one really threw me...then I read someone mention barry gibb and I just had to listen. The thought of barry gibb type vocals on a song mentioning the reaper in its title is too much to resist.

Really uncanny on the vocals...oh so gibb-like. Nice job with that, really. I've not heard anyone go for that sort of sound in quite some time.

I too found the supporting music to be lacking variation. I mean, it sounds fine, but to me it could use more something to give it some energy...maybe try just adding and removing some elements for dynamic effect...I dunno...nice job though.:)

Good points, heatmiser. BTW, that is still my fave Christmas cartoon to this day!

Yeah, my demos are just rough takes. I envision the final versions to have much more variety and instrumentation than the demos.

Thanks for the kind words and advice, my friend!

Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks for listening and the advice, Ray. I use the voxformer VST plugin. I think it has a deesser. I will throttle back more on the reverb and try the deesser.

Cheers,
Joseph

I +1 all of this :)
