Reading the title, I was expecting some Death Metal....:D
Pretty good pop song though, nice keys arrangement. Is that a manipulated voice, or does it really sound like that? Drums could come up a bit (said the metal guy.....:p) Nice work, Joseph.

Thanks for listening and the kind words. Your point is well taken on the drum volume.

The voice is just mine, overdubbed, with some reverb and a little delay in select spots.

The reverb on the vocals seems to be a bit much.

I like the guitars; they've got a classic America sound to them.
 
That's an interesting vibe, and it's easy to listen to. Don't yell at me here, but the vocal processing and the style almost reminds me a bit of the Bee Gees!!!

With the drums not changing and the melody repeating without a lot of variation, it gets somewhat repetitive...that would be my only negative song comment.

As far as the mix, the vocals are kind of sibilant, and yeah, I think the reverb is accentuating it, but for this sound, I think you almost have to have that much reverb.

Thanks for the listening and the comments, Steve and Chris. Your points about the reverb were well taken. I remixed it this evening and throttled back slightly.

Chris, your comparison to the Bee Gees was appreciated. Barry Gibb has been my greatest musical influence since I was 7. The guy is a genius. I learned early on that the fastest way to woman's heart was sending her Gibb compositions! :-)

...well, at least that was true in days gone by. Heh.

the reverb causes extra sib. You may not need it at all with the double tracked vox. Try it dry & with a deesser.
Really nice song - I quite like the current drum level.
 
Yeah, the title of this one really threw me...then I read someone mention barry gibb and I just had to listen. The thought of barry gibb type vocals on a song mentioning the reaper in its title is too much to resist.

Really uncanny on the vocals...oh so gibb-like. Nice job with that, really. I've not heard anyone go for that sort of sound in quite some time.

I too found the supporting music to be lacking variation. I mean, it sounds fine, but to me it could use more something to give it some energy...maybe try just adding and removing some elements for dynamic effect...I dunno...nice job though.:)

Good points, heatmiser. BTW, that is still my fave Christmas cartoon to this day!

Yeah, my demos are just rough takes. I envision the final versions to have much more variety and instrumentation than the demos.

Thanks for listening and the advice, Ray. I use the voxformer VST plugin. I think it has a deesser. I will throttle back more on the reverb and try the deesser.
