What budget gear really cuts the mustard for you? I've had a Sabian B8 Pro 18 inch china for years and it's one of the best cymbals i've ever played, it's outlasted a few so-called "top of the range" Zildjian cymbals (is it just me, or is the quality of Zildjian a lot lower than it used to be?). A real bobby-dazzler.

i had a b8 crash ride which i thought was underrated... maybe the pearl wood-fibre glass kits are worth a little more than they sell for... actually come to think of it i had the pleasure of playing a "basix" entry level drum kit at an impromptue accoustic gig recently, dunno if it was the room or what but this kit sounded as though it was mic'ed and amped to the hilt.. very user friendly

I've a Paiste 404 circa 1978. It's a real P.O.S. but it works GREAT for that trashy "garage band " sound, perfect for one of our new tunes.

i got a 302 crash.

real cheap stuff but even after using Pro cymbals for a while I still came back to it. Its just got a cool sound (its a cheap sound).

However its not very nice for softer songs.

Zildjian 14" ZXT trashformer!!! You can only get it on the slightly nasty ZXT line but this cymbal is fanstatic! Not quite a splash, not quite a crash, not quite anything else! At on £50 this is well worth it!

T0m.

P.S. the zxt china is also nice but stay away from the crashes:S

a Camber 17" crash/ride that I got with my very first kit about 18 years ago...I don't have the cymbal as a daily player on my kit - but every now and again I'll put it out for recording -the cymbal sounds great on tape

I second that, Wuhan rocks my face. And for the price, you almost feel guilty for stealing them.

Been wondering about those Wuhans. Is the splash/china package at Musicans Friend (around 30 bucks) the way to go? I don't know shit about drums and neither does the owner of my band's drumset...

My 'signature' trashhat - 14" ZBT china on top of a 14" ZBT crash. More aggressive than a mullet in an El Camino.
