Sos is definately the best balanced. Do not take the reviews as the last word however. They use mostly independant contributers who only have their own studios to test in and while I do think they are honest, they can miss things as they are working to their own methods and interests. Then again it seems proper in-depth lab testing of gear is generally a thing of the past - too expensive? Word is, if a product really stinks, SoS doesn't print a review.
Some of the articals can be over your head or seem irrelevant, but read them anyway. You'll learn enough from later features to help you understand in time. I always read the Apple and ProTools columns for example, even though I don't use either, but you never know!
