Vintage Pioneer Reverberation Amplifier model SR-202 WORKS GREAT REVERB

I have been looking to get one of these. It's a spring reverb unit for home hi-fi systems.
Sound engineer Tom Elmhirst uses these in the studio. From what I have heard, he used one on some Amy Winehouse and Adele tracks. Just google that, it's pretty interesting. There is also a tube version too.

If it's anything like this one. it doesn't sound too special, at least not to me.

He may well be overdriving the thing in that video, but even so, it can't have a terribly large spring tank in a unit that size. On my RV3, the springs take up most of the width of the unit and it's a 19" rackmount.

Right. They're probably nothing special sound wise. But sometimes bad sounding gear can add a little character.Knda like cheap mics.

ive had one of these (no idea what happened to it) if you listen to Adele - I Miss You at 00:50 you can clearly hear how one of these things sounds (not saying that this unit is used,but thats defo the effect you get from one)
