DJ17, you are correct! It is a "bell-tree" and can be found in modules such as the Roland XP ser, Korg's as well as reason and other software based samples,
However, the effect parameters of the bell-sample vary greatly!
In .50's jammie, pitch was boosted @ +3-4hz with a slight increase in resonance and decay, with what I estimated, a .30ms delay to match key and tempo of the musical tracks.(I did a quick,vodka-drinking-induced jazz/r&b/funk version of Fifity's "Wankster" and "In the Club" a few hr's ago for the h#ll of it!) I used the XP's synth-bell patch to coincide with .50's, matched
pitch and key and boosted upper freq's on the bell track by 5-6db's for sustain and clarity and came away with a decent translation. Slapped in some actual git and bass with a synth horn section, step-recorded and quantized the rhythmic flow of "In da' Club..." on
the DR202 and recorded some wierd-@ss,hyped version of his hit (mind you, I was feelin' the Vodka!!

)
N-e way, point is,there are many times when you can replicate a particular effect or sound, providing you have the tools to do so, by isolating desired effect you want. If you have not been blessed with the EXACT unit that the artist used or a facsimile, make the most out of your modules or software by choosing the proper effect patch in the category of what you're hearing on an artist's song, match it's eq freq'ys by boost/cut, incremental adjustments of 'Verb,pitch,flange etc to match effect and adjust signal's reson.,decay!
If all this seems like 2 much work, either purchase a HI-END unit that affords you the same jointz the artist's r using or simply
do the "PUFFY"; get a sampler and sample the ma'f#cker!
Peace
