whats the point to bass bridge covers?

Its a copy of a Fender Jazz bass. The covers were originally to reduce RFI to the single coil pickups. Also, the finger rest was to help facilitate playing with your thumb. Many players remove some or ALL of these items

so pretty much dont spend and extra 20 bucks for a bridge cover and finger rest?

thanks

Im sure it comes with it and its not an option.
Besides, it LOOKS COOL! :D

The bridge cover on a J bass also has (at least, on the original Fenders) a string mute. They were trying to make the J sound more like an upright. Most players take off teh covers, but some guys use the pickup cover as a Thumb rest (Will Lee is the one who comes most easily to mind).

bridge cover

the bridge cover is also good for hiding all the skin sweat and food that gets ground into your bridge. oh and beer it hides the beer

this is NOT a suggestion, however

the bridge p/u cover is also referred to as an 'ash tray', because that's what it got used for mostly. Not that I would know...or more accurately, remember. ;)

Also, I wish they'd bring back thumb rests. Hey, if you buy that bass, I'll buy the finger rest off of you. I'll put it on one of my thumb rest-less basses.
