What's the ideal place for my drum set in my basement? (design included)

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some insight about where the best place to put my drum set in my basement. The basement is carpeted and approximately 15 feet x 15 feet (maybe a few feet bigger both ways). Surrounding the fireplace is a foot high ledge made of brick. Where do you think the set should go to develop the fullest sound possible, even if I have to rearrange the placement of the furniture?

i'm not absolutely sure about it,
but i think its best NOT to put your drumkit in that corner,
looks like its totally surrounded by walls and stuff, exept in the front of the kit

my kit is in the centre of the room, this leaves me just enough place to walk around, it gives me the oppurtunity to move the kit a bit around,
add jembés or other percussion instruments,
and most of all, 10 mic stands take up ALOT of space around a kit,
do u have enough around u're kit?

and i think sometimes a drumkit can sound better in a "bigger room",
no huge garage, but,,,,this is just me.... i'd rather put the drumkit a bit more in the center of the room


but but but, if u are gonna record entire bands in there,
with guitar amps playing in the same room, then u can leave evertying as it is, and even put some extra panels in front of the kit to avoid bleed from the guts...

but i always prefer to record drums seperately,
and please tell me, what kinda mics do u use on the drumkit?

Thanks for the reply earworm. The set isn't entirely closed off like it appears; there's a rail with a considerable open space to the right of the drum set.

well,
just another short comment:

i just put my drums on another place in my room and i was astonished with the difference in sound !

now i'm sitting with my back to one of the corners of my room,
and the kick is "looking" at the other corner of the room,
you know "diagonal" like we say in belgium...

seems like i can hear the bass from the kick better now,
seems like the snare lost some attack and gained some "muffled sounds",
more lowmids, might be good for a fatter sound

i had my drumkit just in the middle of the room for months, or even years,
facing a wall,
seems like the bass frequencies can travell around the room better now

thats my biggest suggestion:; move the damn thing around and listen !
wow, you might be amazed by what it does !
