Whats the best way for me to record?

I have a samson usb condensor mic.. Im in my room with a fairly loud computer but not a huge problem.. do you suggest i place the mic in a closet? or somehow place a frame around it? Is it really important? I use vegas and im not too good with it.. anyone suggest any other good tools for windows ?

i cant hear any backround noise, but if you are having any trouble with backround noise then theres nothing wrong with recording from your closet.

btw i use and love cool edit pro (just me, ya know). there are plenty to look into, it all depends on what you need.
