Another brick in the wall
for less than 500 bucks? I'm not about to get one yet, I'm just doing a little research for now.

Lexicon mpx500....For a little more moola you can buy two of them, very useful and they sound incredible.

Well, I did an A/B of the MPX500 and TC M-One, with a pre bias in favour of the Lexicon. I was floored at the difference, and found the TC to be far superior at this price point. Best to hear them for yourself though, as reverb quality is often a personal preference, and the two have a very different flavour.

Both have an improved version out right now:
Lexicon MPX 550
TC Electronics M-One XL

I'm very interested in hearing someone's 'a/b-ing' results of these two.
They're both $500 in Europe.

lol, I meant MPX 550, I'm going to purchase another one very soon, excellent unit and the price has come down lately...

Not a lot of people seem to use it and therefore you can't find a lot of information/opinions on it, but you could also look into the Yamaha REV500. I've had one for 2-3 years now and love it for some applications, but not all. The verbs are very smooth and sweet if not pushed, but there is no delay.

the tc m-one gives a certain sheen that the lexicon cant touch.

.....While the Lex offers near flawless delays and chorusing
and hi-increment adjustable parameters for each effect!

It's about time Q!! I was waiting for some MPX 550 backup...:D although there's no reason for it, Yes, maybe it's not the jack of all trades but for the money it's a nice unit. One more is going in my rack very soon but I'm doing the 12's at work for a hd24 first.
....:D

I got my MPX1 for $500 used and it blows the doors off the 500.

YMMV, but I've used both and they sound extremely close.... the biggest difference is parameter control, not sound quality.... hardly "blowing the doors off"...

The 500 actually has better converters... and you don't think, at those price points, that they're using different DSP chips in there now, do you? Same chips, same algorithms........

Sorry Blue Ball's. I should've known you'd be on my ass.

By blow the doors off I meant: way more presets and better editability.

And you just said they use the same DSP so why the hell do you think the 500 has better converters?

And BTW I've used both and I thinl the MPX1 sounds better IMO.

The 500 has 24-bit converters and the MPX-1 has the older 20-bit converters...

And if you seriously want to start juvenile name-calling, instead of engaging in adult-level discussion, I'm game.... you have no clue who you're dealing with, but I guarantee, you'll end up looking pretty stupid...........

Whatever man, Youre seriously grumpy...maybe hibernation would help. And this isn't about you and I anyway.

I still think the MPX1 is way nicer. But like Harley said get two 500's for a little more it's a great unit also. Or hell three 200's for that matter.

Can we stick to verb units that WEREN'T produced with the help of dinosaurusses? Or ones that Muddy Waters used?

Not knocking ya or trying to bolster the arguement here jake, but what good are these features if the thing doesn't sound good? An Alesis Quadraverb as incredible editing and presets but I'll take a Lex over that any day of the week. The Bear's simply pointing out that with 24 bit converters instead of 20 the thing's going to sound better.
