What's the best pro-sounding studio recording setup I can put together for under $38?

....the talkboy... lol i felt the need to comment on this.... i too incurred a major present dissapointment from such... just think of where i could be now if i would of tested the waters of recording then.. i was so damn jealous of the home alone kid

No, I got one. The speaker was crap and the voice quality was useless. If you hid the thing, nobody'd be able to hear it.

Don't worry. Behringer's coming out with an Ultra Talkboy Pro. German engineering and everything.

They're going to release it so that it works EXACTLY like in the movie plus has an ADAT out, high powered speaker and lithium battery.

The only hiccup will be that half the units don't work and they're only available at Guitar Center.
 
Rather than buy an expensive preamp, can cutting myself improve my vocal tracks? :o
It might add a bit of pain and urgency to your chops if you cut while your singing... but that's so emo...
 
Bumping this thread just seems like the right thing to do.
