What's so bad about the product?

The mics, the mixers, etc.

The only Behringer gear I own is a pair of ECM8000 mics. I like them a lot, especially for a cool $35 each. I consistently impress my musician friends with them. But I've never owned one of their dreaded mixers.

Overall, the sound quality of many of their products is considered marginal to mediocre at best...

With a few exceptions, their products are generally avoided by pros....

I agree with Bruce and that fucking blue bear of his. :D

Behringer does suck, but on what level.....

You just have to know what your getting... And know what to expect....

If your buying a behringer mixer to compete with a mackie VLZ, then your silly.... If your buying a behringer mixer cause thats all you can afford, then thats ok, but i still say, save up.. :D

Im seriously thinking of buying that new a/d converter /word clock combo, that they have coming out...

Of course it will not be close to an apogee or lucid, but It will probably be better than the onboard ones in my Digi 001 Breakout box....

and if it's only $199 or $299, it'll be worth it for me, even if it's only a slight improvement..

Get what you need, and don't ask too much, and you won't be let down..

dj mixer

I recently bought a dj mixer from them for 30 dollars. It seems better than my friend's gemini.
And it makes my Yorx stereo from 1991 sound a hek lot better! LOL.

I always thought that a lot of so called 'Professional' DJ mixers sounded dreadful.

i have a Behringer Autocom and its a decent compressor and a very good limiter.......

Hey what about thier headphone amp??? The powerplay pro rocks indeed. 2 main inputs, one direct in, and an auxilary in. Thats four sources total in. Also, it can do 12 headphones at one time with 4 different volumes and mixes. I think thats very cool indeed. Oh yeah, and the ECM8000's are also not too bad and for 400 bucks I think the truths aren't a bad deal either. Say what you want about thier mixers, but don't think all the other gear they make is rubbish because of one product that gets bad reviews.

i own a pair of the ecm's (love em) and a 'dreaded' mixer by behringer. the mixer has given me absolutely no problems at all. and no complaints have ever been heard! and its on about 4 hours a day, up to 10 hours on a saturday...

i have a "dreaded " behringer mixer for over 2 years now , no problems. I also got a ecm and a their patch bay. They make good stuff if your on a budget. Anybody that compares a behringer to a something more expensive is foolish, of coarse the makie is better. But for the price of the behringer can you find anything better?? i didnt think so.

The ECM's are obviously an exceptional mic for the money.......BUT don't presume to give Behringer credit for their design......sure, give them credit by the truckload for marketing them that cheap, but that's all.
A mic looking remarkably similar (read "identical") and branded differently is on offer here along with numerous Shure knock-offs straight from Asia.
Maybe you should ignore Behringers' business ethics (or lack there of), their woeful quality control record and their usual arrogance and/or ignorance towards the consumer and just go buy their product:rolleyes:

I own 7 pieces of Beringer gear, including ALL of their comps,
and though it's basically mid-of-the-road, some of these same pieces provide me with the satisfaction in performance that i need! Especially since I can compare them with other gear that I own!

But be warned.... STAY AWAY FROM THEIR MIXERS!!!!! The worst ever made!!!!

The ultradyne pro is one of the best finalizers Ive read reviews for. They also Make some solid rack gear.

I'm wondering ... if I record all of my songs inside the DAW (Cubase, ...), should I get the Ultadyne to do my finalizing or wouldn't sth. like Wavelab4 do a better job?

Well, I'm thinking of buying a Behringer mixer because it sounds like it will do what I need for the money. Obviously, if I need super-high performance, I would buy something that costs a lot more. Even more than a Mackie. ;)

While on the subject of budgets, does anyone know anything about the Nady mixers? How do they compare to Behringer? The price is even more attractive. But, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Question for QQ...

Hey Misterqcue:

How exactly do Behringer mixers suck? I've seen you and others assert this on numerous occasions, and I'm just curious as to why people seem to hate them so much. I don't have much experience with Behringer mixers, and a *quickie* listen didn't turn up obvious problems (but heck I'm no pro either). The Guitar Center near where I live uses a tiny little Eurorack (the $70 model--the 602??) to test-drive their mics for sale. If the pres etc. are THAT bad, why would anyone try to sell someone a Neumann (they have several in stock) based on a listen through a Behringer? (Or are they really that clueless?)

I'm not quibbling with you, I just really want to know the reasons. Are the pres intolerably noisy? Are the EQs unmusically harsh? Do they die ten minutes after you buy them?

I can vouch for poor quality control, though-- on the unit I played with, the knobs were all at different tensions, the outboard power supply had bent pins, and the phantom power would not shut off once you turned it on! At least it came with no less than eight instruction manuals. ;)

But is it a good buy for $70-100? That is the question. :) How much of an improvement will one see going to a $400 Mackie from a comparably-sized Behringer unit?

The worst thing about Behringer is their business ehtics.

Behringer does have some gear that is really good for the money. If you have MONEY, you could always buy something much better.

Ive never used one of their mixers, so I have no comment there.

Quality control, quality control, quality control...

Q can tell you his "big bad rack" story.

....and no, this is not a good story.
