i'm a drumer and i found a friend that plays guitar. we've been thinking it would be preety cool to put our jams on CD but niether of us know much about recording sound. so my questions are, whats a good way to set up a room as a studio? should we put stuff on the walls to help with sound??? and also do you know any other good sites where i can find home recording information>? thnx for any help

Record your jams with a basic tape recorder and go from there, that's how I started.

Noodles....
Maybe try using the search function here for specifics. What you're asking would be volumes. Great volumes, to be sure...but I think you'd find a wealth of the info your lookin for right here on this board.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific but all I can say to help is........read, read, read.
Let us know how you do.
Peace,...............

on a 'we want to put a few recordings onto a cd' level, work with what you've already got... i presume you wont be after pro quality.

so if one of you has a computer or laptop, use it! if you've got access to a mixer, use it! if you've had to buy a mic at some point, use it! if you're thinking about getting into it much more heavily, then that's maybe when you should start purchasing more equipment. but if you're just doing it 'for a bit of a laugh' (which is fine of course!) my biggest piece of advice would be to keep costs low and use anything you already have access to.

Andy.
