Whats a great mic for a cheapskate like me?
I'm trying to find a great sounding mic for a good price anyone have any suggestions?

it really depends on what you will use them for for a few of my low cost favorites......

Marshall MXLv67G
Marshall MXL603
Studio Projects B1
Behringer ECM8000
Radio Shack 33-3032
Marshall MXL2003
Marshall MXL990
AT ATM25PRO
Shure SM57

all I want to do is get some nice sounding vocals for a change.

either the v67G or SPB1 (depending on the voice) will probably give you what you are looking for......

What type of voice is the v67g good for?
How about the SPB1?

You should be able to get a used Shure SM57 for about $40.

The mic that works best for someone else may not work best for your voice... so you really need to audtion a bunch of mic's to find the one that works best for YOUR voice.

I'd say either one would be good for female vocals, or a higher-pitched male voice. The B1 might be a little more versatile, but it would probably take a healthy dose of EQ to get 'em just right. I wouldn't recommend the v67 for chesty male voice . . . particularly in a dense mix.

If you want your vocals to sound better, the only way you're ever going to do it is to stop being a cheapskate. :D You could hop on ebay and score a Rode NT1000 for a couple hundred bucks . . . and that happens to be a pretty darn good vocal mic.

If you can scrounge up an extra hundred, you could score a new Audio Technica AT4040 for $300 and that's another good vocal mic. In fact, I'd say either of those options ARE what I'd call outstanding cheapscate vocal mics.

get a sm57, if it don't work for vox, it will work for something else.
You need to hear you how you sound through the mics, so yu'll have to chekc em out first anyway/

For live situations, a Sure SM58, for recording, a Rode NT1

I gotta used BLUE Cactus (ser #17) for $1800. Including escrow and shipping.:)

I think it's a great mic and I got it for a good price.
