What's a cheap good crunch box?

I have a Strat which runs into a Chorus box and then a Marshall Lead 12. I'm trying to find an overdrive pedal to place after the chorus for a very slight crunch sound, one that is transparent and keeps the chorus sounding clear.
Anyone have suggestions on which stompbox I should get? It's a very low budget thing, I plan to get it for maybe $40 used, whatever one it is. So a TS-9 is probably out of that range. I've shortlisted some pedals available in my area, your comments and reviews will be greatly appreciated!
They are : Boss Blues driver, Boss Super overdrive, DOD mystic blues, Marshall Bluesbreaker....

Hey, the sample on the Dredge Tone homepage is almost exactly the sound I'm looking for. Do you know of any cheaper pedal which sounds similar to the Dredge Tone?
I haven't had the opportunity to sample the fabtone, but it looks like the most popular box around, with very positive reviews on Harmonycentral. I think I should try it out.

For a sound that "is almost exactly the sound I'm looking for", I think $150US is not too much to spend.

Just my opinion...
