if someone forced you to purchase one of these items, which would it be?

(used doesn't count!)

Where the fuck is the "peace on earth" option?

This poll sucks.

Of all those, I can get the best compressor for under $100. Best means "useable and unobjectionable" here.

eBay Ashly SC50 would do.

idk... I kind of want to see some midgets in a 300m hurdle. That would be funny to watch!

Definitely "none of the above". Any gear purchase should be based on need, not on some sort of perceived value of what's best for the money. What if you need a compressor, but can get a better preamp for under $100? It makes no sense.

Okay, sign me "Ebeneezer Scrooge".

Also

even though I'm a bottom feeder myself, I doubt that even I would be remotely happy with anything new in any of those categories for under $100. Bump that to $200 and you'd have at least a few possibilities.

Sorry.

And SonicAlbert

May I just say that I went to your site and checked out your music, and I think you're a freakin' genius!

It makes me want to make a movie just so I can have you score it.

I wish you much success.

then it's off to the midget races!

:D  :p

Well I have allways had a Sexual Fetish for Midgets (or more appropriately called "Little Poeple) so If I could get sex with a midget hurdler for $100 I would definately go for that over any of the other options.....

:D

looks like 'little people racing' has a commanding lead in this poll...

and understandably so!

I got all my RE-55s for $100 a piece or less, but they were already fairly old and obviously used. Great mikes, though more commonly used on things other than vocals. I'm not as big of a fan of the SM-57 as some, but for vocals it can be good and it falls in the category even when new.

The only other new thing I can think of is the Epiphone Valve Junior guitar amp head that sells for $99 from the discount places. A useable amp for recording purposes and there are many websites devoted to simple mods to make them even better.

Cheers,

Otto
