I would like to know what would happen if you took a 24 bit 96khz recording and upload it through a Pro Tools HD system with the 192 IO to master the project, would that increase the sound quality?
Uploading to a higher sampling rate / frequency in any system won't automatically improve the unaltered files. But any processing you may do to the files after conversion will be at a higher quailty. ( reverbs / effects / compressing etc.)
We started this project on a digi 001 and I have a friend that owns a pro studio with a full blown Pro tools HD system with three 192 IO's. All the vocals for the album are scratch, we are going to re record those in his studio and then all the mastering will be done there. I just didnt want the sound quality of the vocals to overide the music. I will post a snipet when it is finished,
The name of the artist is Jazmine, albulm title, Just Breath, Genre R&B
By the way I got the friendship deal for my project, I spent one and one half years helping him build this studio so I get the whole 12 song package for $400.00
Are you saying there is a problem with the clock stability on the HD 192? Is that based on hands-on experience with the unit, hearsay, or just a general disillusionment with Digidesign, based on experience with earlier products?
I've tried clocking with the HD192 and then comparing it to the Lucid GENx6-96. To be honest, i can't hear much difference, if any. I'm not making any significant claims one way or the other based on that, because you have to factor in the fact that I don't have the ears I used to... (do any of us, at my age?).
So that's why I'm asking, in all sincerity, for you to elaborate on your statement, assuming it was more than just a gratuitous slam...
