What to fill my rack with?

I just bought a 12 space rack for my home studio- i record local bands ect what would be some good cheap equipment to fill it with? i've been looking into alot of behringer compressors and they seem like a good choice to me-
 
You're right...they are a good choice for you...snag that stuff up before it's all sold out! Do it now! The prices will never be lower...never! :D

Tell us what you have so far and what you need to do. Then we can help a bit better. :confused:
 
i have nothing in my rack- all i have is a behringer mx802a - runs into computer - and then some shure mics and what not for the mixer,
 
Forget the rack.

Spend a grand on a UAD-1 card and build a software rack of quality compression, limiting, EQ, reverb etc. It will cost you less in the long run, and sound much much better than any behri rackfiller

If you want to fill a rack with something fill it with anything but Behringer gear. Most of the crap really sucks, there's plenty of middle of the line stuff that's better. Hell just browse ebay. Seriously though, if your going to computer like the other said save your money on rack gear, cause you'll find it pretty useless once you get some plug-ins going. Why do you think you can find a ton of compressor's on ebay?

Now personally I'm not all about some plug-in effects, most of them sound pretty chinsy to me. However, I'm not to big on recording into computer either so ....

If you have to ask, you most likely don't need a rack. A rack is for mounting hardware audio devices in an organized and modular format. The question is kinda like asking "I have a backpack, what should I put in it?" Any advice would be worthless because none of us know what your needs are.

Once you identify your needs (ex. new preamp, headphone amp, mixer, etc), then you might ask for suggestions regarding experience with specific brands.

You did mention the behringer compressors, which makes me ask if you think you have a need for a rack full of compressors? Considering the small format of your mixer and unknown interface in to the computer, I think your money could be much better spent...
