Ok today I got a hold of two avalon 737 mic pres processors on a great bargin, question is with my delta 1010 , soundcraft m12 mixer, good mics and cubase and nuendo will I be able to get pro results with the equipment I have. Or will I have to dump the delta 1010. thanks

If you know what you're doing, and consider yourself a pro-calibre recording engineer, then I don't see any reason why you couldn't get "pro" results - whatever that's defined as.

I certainly couldn't see where any of the gear you mentioned would be a weak link.

Still, if you have to ask that question, then my suspicion is that you probably don't have pro-calibre engineering skills, in which case you probably won't be able to get pro results no matter what you use.

The Delta 1010 is used by lots of pros. Your equipment list is quite impressive. Practice with what you've got, and if you have a good enough ear, you'll get pro results. Definitely.

(although you didn't list what mics you have. I'm assuming a certain level of microphone given the fact that everything else you're using is pro level.)

EXACTLY!!!!

The 737's will never measure up to your 1010 so I'll tell you what I'll do for you. I'll take those nasty ol Avalons off your hands so they won't mess up your set up.:D Ain't I a nice guy?

Track Rat I cant let you do all the work. I'll take one of em also just to help out.

Tmay you can send them to us and once we get them all tweaked out we can send them back with the appropriate settings.

Yea, and didn't you know that Mackies' preamps are better than your Avalons? Just look at the Mackie web site if you have any doubts. They'll tell you. :) So I'll do you a favor and let you trade me that Soundcraft board for my Mackie.

Is this guy for real? Last week he was asking "What is stereo" and "What is EQ" and now he has Avalon Pre's?

I think it's Sinusman in disguise.

Yeah Tex RoadKill

Yeah I'am for real I admit I'am new to recording and I read these forums everyday to learn more and more. and I learned avolon pres are top-of-the line. If you can get two brand new Avolon Pres processors for $1200(when they cost $1999.00 each) would you do it? Hell yeah! I knew I was going to buy pres one day and why spend $500 when I knew It would need upgrading one day. So I got top of the line pres and I don't have to worry about pres anymore so that one item is off my equipment needed list.

Understand Now Tex?

You probably don't need two of them. Any interest in selling one of them for $600?

Or would you maybe care to drop a hint as to where one migh be able to get in on a similar deal?

Not interested in selling one now, see I do gospel music and sometime I have a lot of singers at once so, Iam gonna work with them for a while until I figure out what is what. I got lucky on the deal because a friend of mine told me about a studio which was closing down because the owner was getting a divorce and needed money to pay off the wife instead of giving her half of everything. I went with $1500 cash and offered him $1200 and he took fell for it (suprise the hell out of me). Today I went back with $1000 and got a akai mpc2000 studio plus and a pair of mackie active monitors. Now I'am broke Iam just a 19year old college student trying to make it, maybe i'll call mom tonight to borrow some money.

But at least iam happy!

No offense intended. Welcome aboard. You seem to be learning the basics pretty quick (getting the best gear you can).
