Así o más verger?
i was reading an article about microphone when i saw this
"Before you record anything it is imperative that you check all your microphones for phase."

could someone tell what is this?

Have u ever hooked up a speaker backwards and it moved inward instead of outward? Same principal with the mic. Its like polarity.

as far as I know Phasing usually ocures when there is two or more mics set up at the same time. at least in my experiance with
it. having mics to close together and or facing each other tends to create phase problems.

Heyyy Mi amigo, cómo es usted?

does this make more sence? Amo Google!

uhh ok. The Phase thing.

Here is what I think this is about:

Lets say there is a 4x12 guitar cab, and you put many mics in front of it. I sometime do it. Just to explore. To see what's going on with this cab and those mics.

You may sometimes hear some mics combination interesting. When it appen, I always check the phase of both mics, and move them sometimes to try to modify the sound a bit...still play with the phase... I also sometimes end up with "inverted" phase on one mic!

In fact, I dont really care about "using the right phase" I prefer use what my ears, and the involved guitar player love too, of course.

We may have some other replys here, I'll check them out cuz there is certainely many, many other awnsers/suggestions!

Maybe what you read is simply, be sure taht in you setup, you dont "cancel" or modify any mics sound when you record many at the same time, like a drum kit but.. ya know, I dont think we can find a way that the snare wont influence, in many ways, what will be recorded in the 10" rack tom right beside it. The snare may be out of phase in this tom mics. Never know. What do you want to do about this? Move it a bit to the left....hmmm..of soundss good for the snare now. Damn! the floor tom looks now out of phase in this mic!!

Never saw anybody work this way!!

Dunno if this help in anyway, but I tried!

véale más adelante!!
:D

hahahahahahaha
dude, you better practice a little.
what do you mean with canceling or modifying mics?

Phase becomes important when recording a source with more than one mic, as in stereo, drums, amps. It has to do with what part of the sound wave is captured by each mic, and how the parts combine when they are summed (mixed, played back.) It is frequency and distance dependent. If the source is recorded "out of phase", to varying degrees one mic will produce a positive voltage and the other a negative one, which when summed will cancel part of the signal (which will vary by frequency) and you will hear the sound as lacking in volume or some frequencies - tinny, thin or absent.

A search of the mic forum will give you much reading material, including the "big thread" and the following which are helpful:

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20774

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42560

Basically if you're using 2 mics, if you make sure the most distant one from the source is at least three times as far as the closest, phasing problems should be negligible.
