oooooohhhh damn they got a video out..im lookin for it right nwo...

i still cant believe this

I hate to break it to ya'll, but "good" music doesn't get played on the radio anymore.

It's commonly referred to as "Payola" or "Pay for Play". Labels use "consultants" to garner airplay for artists and offer monetary gifts to radio stations to play their songs. They're compensated by the number of spins each song receives. Anywhere from $1000 to $8000 per song they get on the air. While the record companies are paying upwords of $250G's to get new tracks on the air.

Trust me... My album gets spins on college radio, and I've had "major" local stations ask for my Label information to talk to them about airplay. It's pathetic.

There's really no way around it... unless you're like Trick-Trick here in Detroit, who only gets his track with Eminem played because the people request it...

This is the one major area, where a label deal is beneficial to your paper.

I heard it on the radio a while back. and it IS one of the worst rap songs I've heard on or off air.

Maybe Bizarre of D12 will do a remix to it. Then it might be decent.

yo, i was building with my people on the phone with my people in Augusta Georgia and they mentioned this song to me. i told them that i haven't heard it yet. my man king jamez said that it sucked really bad.

Payola sucks don't it.

i have to say that the White Tee remix with JD, Bow Wow and the Brat titled
"I think they like me" takes my vote of being one of the dummest songs on the radio so far. i have to heare this song and maybe it will bump that song to number two of the dummest. JD, Bow Wow and the brat shines on the song for the most part. they have been playing that song every day for the past month here in B-more at 5pm when i tune in. no telling how many other times it's been played through out the day.

The laffy taffy song was worse....but the difference if these guys haven't been heard of much....JD, bow wow, and da brat have been around a while and the song sucks....so I wonder what's worse.

What The!!!!

Ya, that weak song has made it all the way to California. When I first heard it I said, "What the &^%$%%!!!!!!!!." We try to make the perfect track and we hear that song on the radio on major play. What's this industry coming too?!!! The only way that song made on air is because they had big connections...

I STILL say what the fuck!!! but then I just say screw it and do what I do best..make beats and record tracks. I laugh when the radio dj's diss it. They always say they don't wanna play it because it's weak. I'm still laughing at the Busta remix though, Busta'll jump on anybody's remix (and you know they had to have paid Aftermath some loot for gettin' in on that).

am i the only one or does anyone else hear that fruity loops simsynth playing a straight untweaked preset? I mentioned this before that i think Mr ColliPark, the producer for "Whisper" and "Play" did this track. I think he could have done a hell of a lot better.

I feel everybody pain..this is crap..D4L they produced their own beats..and they keep it simple..i said it before somewhere else....if its simple and catchy you have a hit..if its to complex its just a nice song.. they produced the White tees beat also..so no matter how much they suck..they doin something right..

That may be true for now....but if you're doin' simplistic shit, it's easy to make the one mistake that will kill you. Just drop one bad track or CD. We'll see what the rest of the CD sounds like. This could just be an Afroman in the making...except Afroman was funnier than shit and the beats were decent considering. "Because I Got High" was a simple beat too, but people found humor in it so it started sellin'.

Yeah That Song Sux --
But Its Such A Shame How People Like That Can Garner Radio Spins N Over Time Even Those That Hate It Start Sayin "its Ok"

N I Know Quite A Few People That Have Started "changing Their Mind" About That Dam Song

As for the Laffy Taffy song, in my opinion it has been and always will suck. But I'm looking at it through the eyes of a musician. Any musician would tell you what's wrong with the song, but the common person doesn't know about any of that.

As for D4L, I'm waiting to see how the rest of the album is. My guess is one hit wonder that's never heard from again after this. If it doesn't make enough money, which most one hit wonders don't, they'll be owing the studio more than they could ever hope to pay.

I'd rather be unknown and not owe a studio shit, than be known and in debt to the studio.

I think they will do alright...they sign to asylum records/Atlantic.. and asylum records right now is doin the best job with their artist...look at Mike Jones(platinum), Paul Wall is still sellin pretty good..and i think they bought to drop a new single., Bun B 1st week sells were pretty good..without having a major radio play song..and now the got D4L with "Laffy Taffy" even tho most of everyone hate it..like Gully said its growin on people due to radio play..and they will proable sell pretty good due to the boppers buyin it..album drop Nov 8th...so we will see

Is Asylum just distribution like Universal does or is there something I'm missing like maybe joint signing? Because Mike Jones and Paul Wall are with Swisha House and D4L is joint with Atlantic.
