Hustle Magic!! We Got It.
Ok..I was listening to the radio station here in MD ..93.9 WKYS-FM(KISS) while my daughter were in the car with me and they played this song called "Laffy Taffy" form a group name D4L out of the "A"..now i'm thinkin to myself..I really or most of us must be doing something wrong not to have a song on the radio...im lookin for the audio now for those that havent heard it yet..I just dont know what to say...oooh they just signed a deal with Asylum/Atlantic Records
...

Tell me you're kidding bknot....Please tell me you're kidding. This shit is TERRIBLE. They must have paid somebody at the station to play that shit. Just my .02 Anybody else? The production is horrible, the vocals suck. I can see the lyrics, but the vocals kill it. The beat is WEAK!!!!!. All I gotta say is....

WHAT...THE...FUCK

On a better note, I let one of my homies on the radio (even though it's a rock station) listen to Ridin' Skinnies and he thinks he can get it on the radio when I'm ready. He said he might even help push the CD when I finish it up.

cool thats whats up...

I hate to say it.. im not kidding at all..this song is gettin major play in GA and its get major play around the country right now..they must be on their grind hard...I just dont know what to say anymore...

I think if we all here in the rap/hip hop section made our own compilation (like the HR Compilation) and then cross promoted the fuck out of it across the country, we'd get out more.

I know most of everybody is working on a project or CD. I think we'd have a banger if everyone "donated" a song or two from their projects (depending on how many people step up to the offer) and make a CD out of it strictly for the purpose of pushing it out and trying to get noticed. CD would have everyone's contact info or what not so that if any radio station liked a particular song they can contact that person directly and in turn the person that got contacted can let the rest of us know and help us out as well. I mean shit the people doin' the shit have TEAMS specifically put together to put in street hustle and word of mouth. Shit, we can sell the CD's for $5 (with all profits being used to make more promos of the material so it can get into better hands). I don't think the focus should be trying to get rich off the compilation itself, but to put us in a better position to make a career out of the shit, nah mean. If we're pushing it in different markets, money's not the option. At a cheaper price, more people would be willing to buy underground and hear real talent. I, for one would let any of ya'll jump on one of my tracks just to help get you marketed in another area.

I think it's a good idea and would help us come together more than we already are, but that's just my opinion and we all know those are like assholes, everybody's got one...so what's yours?

Tha Fie

i agree with you on this 100%...but are we goin to to it underground style or comerrical style so they can take any track off the cd and play it on the airways without problem of worrying about cuss words..and what nots..or we can have it edited before its submitted...

yes....ever time i turn on the radio, i hear something embarassing, and an insult to me as an emcee who has worked for years upon years to build and improve, while some ignorant cats can go in a studio and play around and get major radio support with some bullshit

Im really starting to believe its where you at..for a person to get put on

Good point bknot. I'd prefer to have 2 different versions, an edited for the stations, an unedited to get word out on the streets, with the edited version available by request.

The songs I was going to contribute were both radio friendly, but the tracks others may put in might not be. I know I can edit my own material, what about the rest of you guys?

I also thought in the tracklisting on the inside of the CD, we could have the website for that particular artist.

Example:

2.) Fieva - Ridin' Skinnies
Produced by C. Waites
Fieva appears courtesy of Hammerback Records
(c) 2005, Hammerback Records
Website: www.hammerbackrecords.com

Like I said, that's an example (hammerbackrecords.com isn't out yet but it's coming), but it'd only work if everyone took part in it and put hustle into the whole project. Who's game? I've heard a lot of good shit that needs to be heard by other folks. I'm a businessman first, musician second, so I thought this would be the perfect idea for us to get together on something and truly be able to call ourselves fam, ya heard?

Everyone would still own their tracks as they'd be individually copywritten.

I'll post some more on this later during the day, I've got some designs I've got to finish for a site. I'll be checking back periodically to see how this goes.

I like it..i think it will work..they could use the website, email, mailing adress or phone number..which ever is the best way to contact a person..

plus we need to determine how many tracks will be on it..(i say all we can) is it going to be a single or double cd...I got thing to thing about tonite while im work on a new beat..

i know why this is getting play on the radio it is a gimmick song bringing to lite new slang to make those kids out of touch feel intouch plus laffy taffy taste good ....lol in all this shit is week as hell we could definatleyy do waaaay better

That's for the promo package that goes only to radio stations or music business contacts. The regular CD should just have the info I had earlier. You don't want just anybody having your contact info, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind some traffic going to your website and helping spread promotion on your own work right?

Edit: If we go double CD, I suggest we sell it as a double for $10 a pop. But with that said, we might have to make it a double CD just to feature everyone who wants in on it. I'm thinking about it and I'll come back with some more organization on it. I'm thinking 16 artists, 2 tracks a piece and then maybe room to do a couple of tracks that has everybody spittin' on it.

I dont see it...im thinkin aslyum is just pushin their artist..which is good..and they do have a buzz in the ATL...but..hell i dont know..i need to create a beat and get a hot artist to do it real simple and see if we can push it on the air
