it's called fall in love again...
so ... listen and oh yeah there are no vocals yet.

mix tips paalleeeeeeeease!

my main questions are:
should the drums be louder? should I redo the bass line? anything I should EQ/Compress?

I would double up the guitar tracks or put a delay on them to widen up the spread a little bit. Everything sound a little distant. The bass has no bass in it :). All i hear is 800 -2000hz on it it. Maybe a little reverb to help with the stereo spread of things also. What Eqing did you do on these because its lacking depth really.

I just EQ'd the drums... hmm... I guess I'll reverb some things... I'll see about getting more bass in it too.

The playing is good btw. I think my main concern really is the bass, just because there really doesnt appear to be bass frequencies at all in there.

I was hoping the Bass itself would cover that... what do you suggest I EQ on the bass? there's not much bass on Acoustic guitar... I think I will redo the bass line... we DI'd it... the vocals should add to it too... but shouldn't most mixes be slightly on the treble-y side, since most stereos boost the bass anyway?

The drums have a bit too much room sound on them. I'm not sure what can be done about that with EQ...The kick's a bit too loud and midrangey, and it needs some ass in it......I'd boost the stuff below 70Hz on the kick and then turn it down some.

As far as the bass...It just has very little sustain for some reason, so the mix feels very light. As far as whether mixes should be "trebly," no. You have to be careful with the low end, because it's the element of the mix that plays back very differently depending on what it's being played back on, but low end is your friend. The best thing to do is to A/B this with something commercial and similar that you like and turn both of them up a lot and see if you notice any differences.

thanks I'll give it a shot and repost in this thread a new mix

...

k, here is the new and improved, boosted low-end version...
what sucks ass now? or is it free of suck ass ;)

I accidentally forgot to turn the kick drum down on that, but I did give it more low-end stuff... aside from turning the kick drum down... what else

I think it's a lot better. The kick definitely needs to come down some now, but it sounds less like the loose flapping "thad" that it was. Bring it down 3-5db and I think you're ok.

thanks much, I appreciate your ears, having an outsider just listen to it makes it much better
