Hey guys,
Glad to be part of the community and hopefully be able to repay your knowledge with some of my own.
I've been playing live gigs for years and always used professional studios to do my recordings up until recently when I was given an Soundscraft Spirit ES to record with. I'm a complete noob at this sort of thing and was wondering what soundcard I'd need to buy for my desktop to record with the mixer? and how I would connect the mixer to the soundcard in terms of cables? someone recommended a 'M-audio PCI 2496' as the soundcard for my desktop but would like to hear your opinions.
I have a quadcore Windows PC and a Core 2 duo mac so I would rather use the the desktop to record and don't mind paying big prices for decent software as I'm looking to record for local bands and such at a small charge so I'm sure I'd get the money back soon enough.
