ok i'm really new to this but it seems to be that to record you need a usb sound card with 1/4in and xlr inputs. on a budget of say $200-300 what is a good soundcard for some basic recording for demos. note this is for a laptop. what would i gain by say spending $400? if you guys could give me some adice in both price ranges that would be great.
