Hello all,

I have been playing around with recording for about a year and half now. Until now, my gear has always been good enough for me. I'm not recording anything technically difficult... most of the time just just piano/guitar/vocal.

I have a small collection of inexpensive gear. I'm not looking to spend thousands on upgrading it -- actually I'm looking to make it more portable since I will be leaving for college next year. Anyway, I would like to know what my first priority to get an all around better sound.

I have:

Behringer Xenyx 802 -- Mixer
Behringer FCA202 -- Interface
Behringer C1, AT2020, Shure SM57 and SM58 -- Mics
Sennheiser HD201, Sony V150, Behringer HSP3000 -- headphones
Westone UM2 -- in ear monitors
Behringer MicroAmp -- headphone amp (4 channels)
Sony Acid Music Studio -- DAW

Thanks in advance! Here's a link to my Youtube channel where some of my stuff is at so you can get an idea of what to suggest.

maybe a better interface, presonus audiobox or focusrite saffire would be an improvement

where its all based on your needs where do you feel you are lacking? what do you feel you music needs?

Dude, that's really cool. You've got a nice little Youtube channel going there! Good luck with college and all that. I don't really have any suggestions, but I'm sure others will be along to help ;)

I vote for a good microphone. Borrow or rent the best ones you can think you can afford to buy and test them on your gear.

College next year? Save the dosh for books, your vid sounds great as is mate.

Okay, cut back on the sibilants.

I am no expert, but i would recommend upgrading your DAW to a Acid PRO, since is my understanding that Acid music studio has a 16-Bit top limitation. 24-Bit is a must-be nowadays in my opinion
