The only problem i have with a computer is that,well....i dont have one. I would get one...but im limited on funds ya know. Im not exactly "rich". Thats why i want a unit that will do everything i need it to do. I just want something that gives me the best of everything, and that's easy to use.
And for some odd reason i cant get access to my previous post...i keep getting cut-off.
So once again , what should I upgrade to? Remember though, my only experience is with a Tascam 414 Portastudio. Here are only a few choices, but if anyone knows of anything better suitable for me,list those to. Tascam 564 minidisc recorder , Roland VS-840ex , Boss BR-8 Digital studio , or even something like an Akai DPS16 studio. If you do however, have some ideas on digital studios for computers and the kind of computer/software,or whatever i need to set it up, either reply to this or e-mail me. 'Cause i need help!!! THANK YOU

Yo KGB:

[did you have a prior career with "Boris Badinov?]

Go for the Yamaha DAW2816. If you are computer savvy, great. If not, suffer a while with me and others who have this great unit.

When I got my Yamaha DX7, it took three years before I could navigate that unit.

So, I'm in for a learning curve but with the help of my friends on this site, I'll get there, as will you.

The 2816 has superior stuff in it; lots of hard drive space.

But, I must say, the Yamaha engineers who wrote the manual are absolutely INSANE. No organization; no rhetorical comprehension of the English language! Write in English and "think in Japanese?" Yea, verily.

If Yamaha is reading this, I could write an understandable manual for this unit with two weeks training by an Engineer.

Why? Because I have the talent to work with words.

You should do a search on this topic. I remember seeing a thread on this subject "standalone vs computer based".

That should give you some insight. :)
