Ok look... what i want to do is rid my room of echoes, so that i can record without any echo... at first my plan was to build a vocal booth in the corner of my room and cover in interior walls with fiberglass and fabric... to do so i would have to buy 7 2x4's for the frame, 2 sheets of 4'x8' drywall, a light, a total of 144sq feet of fiberglass, fabric, a piece of 4’x8’ plywood for a door, hinges, a headphone amp, nails and screws… but I was thinking about it today and I thought maybe I’d just be better off saving myself the time and perhaps money by just covering my entire room with fiberglass and fabric… it would save me a shitload of time and would be a lot easier to construct, and I wouldn’t have to worry about wiring for a new light in the vocal booth… to cover my walls and ceiling entirely in fiberglass I would need 490sq feet… which I priced at lowes will be about $152… my floors are carpet.. so my question is what should I do? Go all out and build a vocal booth or just do it the easy way and cover my room in fiberglass under fabric? I also will be mixing with some monitors so what kind of effect will the fiberglass have on that?
thanks

First off, the fiberglass you can get at Lowe's isn't the kind you want. You want Owens Corning 703 rigid fiberglass (or equivalent) which Lowe's does NOT carry. You should be able to find a local insualtion supplier that can get it for you.

If you make your room totally dead it will accomplish what you want. But it will be a REALLY uncomfortable place to spend much time. The human brain doesn't like dead spaces for extended periods of time. So, I would suggest a small booth lined with the aforementioned rigid fiberglass.

Good luck,
Darryl.....
