Wow, Reaper!!
So I tried Reaper for the first time...IT IS AMAZING... I love the interface, it's a lot like SonicFoundry/Sony's UI. Add to that, the awesome amount of flexibility and power.
Anyone who hasn't must try it!

I was using Cool Edit, then recently used Reaper for several months, and now I might switch to Sonar 6 or 7.
Reaper's limited MIDI capability (namely tempo changing within a song using VSTs) is forcing me to switch. Brings a tear to my eye to have to let it go over something as small as the inability to trigger tempo changes off the grid (ie free form). I need it for my music though.
If Justin decides to fix this, I'll be all over Reaper again. I spent a lot of time already learning the ins and outs of the program, and it sucks to have to start back at square one and learn a new one.

Tracktion. It's the only one that's made me feel PRODUCTIVE. Haven't tried Reaper, but I don't know if I even will, considering how happy I am with Tracktion.
The big vendors can go blow their bloatware. If I never touch Sonar, Cubase, or Pro Tools again it'll be too late.

So am I. But I usually do the final versions on tape.
Then I'll digitize the 2-track masters with Audacity, mhWavEdit or even the ALSA 'arecord' utility and edit them with Audacity.
In Windows I will generally use Goldwave.
**EDIT**
Oh, but I do use SONAR for the MIDI composition. Never used it to record though.
