I will be getting two M-audio delta 44(or 66) soundcards and want a mixer with at least 8 direct outs. the soundcraft m8 was recommended to me, but i just wanted to see some other options.

I am new to home recording, so any other methods of recording an electronic drumset, 2 guitars, a bass, and vocals(besides buying the 2 m-audio pci cards) are welcome

thanks

i had an M8 and totally loved it, simply sold it cause i really needed more ins and outs

the quality is nice, clean, just clean, i'd be jalease if you'd start with that one!!!

i can't think of a better mixer for that price, maybe the allen & heath mixwizard but thats more expensive

i'd go for it man!

Any firewire interface would be fine if you have that option. I use a Mackie Onyx 1220 and FW card which gives me 4 mic pres and 8 additional channels of 1/4 for 12 channels of simultaneous recording. But, the Onyx stuff is considerably higher priced than the Delta's and a mixer.

If you are looking for a quality, inexpensive mixer, the Yamaha MG line is hard to beat.

last time I asked m audio if you could run two delta 44 or 66 card together they said no. Unless something has changed since then. If it has let me know that is something I would be interested in is adding a second card to my machine. I have the delta 44 now.

I was under the impression that they were stackable up to 4. I will try to find a source for this (mis)info... :D

From the m-audio website...

"All Delta cards contain a 36-bit embedded DSP enabling a software-driven patchbay/router for all analog and digital I/O—all with extremely fast throughput for low-latency software monitoring. A single unified control panel provides settings for clock and sample rates, buffer sizes, individual signal levels for every input and output, adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV pad conrols and digital I/O control on up to four installed Delta cards. All controls are also easily accessible through most professional audio software applications for seamless integration and operation."

I think that's what it says, right?

Het LedZep...

If I were you, the only thing I would be real concerned about is how the Delta works with Vista, that is, if you are buying a new PC.

A delta1010lt and audiophile 2496 work together as well. Even in PT, they both can be used at once.
