Michael, How are you liking that RCA? I've been daydreaming about a 44 or a 77.
Track, with the limited time I've been able to spend with it lately, It seems magical!
I'm still learning the nuances of it though, but it seems very delicate in its reproduction. It takes a lot of gain to drive it, so a quality pre is a must; and finding that perfect position to gain ratio is the biggest hurdle.

Well, let's see:

Electro Voice 664, I had three but two don't seem to be around
Shure Unidyne III - a high impedence 57
Electro Voice BK-1- one works, one's in the garage so I guess it doesn't
SM 57- I had more but they must have followed the 664's
Shure Beta 57 - my stage mic
AKG 1000s
Oktava MK 219
Oktava MC 012 x 2
Studio Projects C-1 x 2

Sennheiser MD 441-U

And a very old EV-636.

Soon to be getting an AT-4033. After all of the good things I hear about it on this site, I have to try one.

Ok- pres- Joemeek twinQcs
DBX 386

AKG Solid Tube
AKG C2000B
AKG D690 x2
AKG D112
Octava MC 012 x2
Shure SM 57
Studio Projects C-3
Octava MK319

Interestingly enough, we did a blind A-B tonight on a light folk track (a cover of Jorma Kaukonen's "Third Week in the Chelsea". and overdubbed the vocal track with the 8 mics above. We had many differing opinions, but all 5 sets of good ears said C-3 blew away the competition! Oddly enough, the #2 choice was unanimous at Oktava MC012!! Third place was a draw between Solid Tube and D112. I just have a voice that profits more from up front accuracy than color. We're going to do the same test Sunday on some nasty Rock and Roll. I have to start guide tracks before the end of July, and for good or ill, that's the cabinet I've got. Preliminary data suggests I'll be getting up close and personal with C-3. Think I'll take it to bed with me and throw out the cat!-Richie

sorry, i'm WAY too lazy. couldn't we just measure our dicks?

Well, actually it's not size that's important but what you...

Nope, hang on - size IS important, isn't it? (looks around, sees female members of family enthusiatically nodding their heads in agreement...) ...well, er, um - I think that it's the number of microphones that's important - not what you do with them, but what you could do with them should the opportunity ever arise... er, so to speak...

(45 at the last count, I think - see other threads...)

Beyer TG-X-50 large diapragm DYNAMIC mic. Killer mic. Best deal I ever got.
If you have any mics for sale, let me know... musikaldude@aol.com

Mr Zeke... how do you like your Sytek? Wanna sell it? :) Best pre on the list so far except maybe for that Audix 35102
They have the 4 channel Sytek on ebay a lot for $769 buy-it-now, and if any of you are looking, dont be dumbass and spend a hundred dollars less on a crappy 2 channel preamp. Think smart.
