You Know...
1. The Axis, you're sure right that waiting is a big negative for a lot of people... But that's the way it is with ANY custom shop; which iS what DaviSound is... They simply have some bases to start at if you'd like. You could have them mod one of their models for your more specific use or you could start from the ground-up if you wanted; or simply give them the idea, and the'll design it!
Heck, I NEVER thought it was going to take nearly over a year for Stephen Paul Audio to mod my 797 CR998, but I've not one single complaint about it; that's the price you pay for custom work! As I've metioned, I'm having a console built by DaviSound and it's going to take roughly a year! That's the price I have to pay. I suppose it separates the people who are really interested in high quality or just gtting something out there. They both have their right times; whether it be money or just getting something out there for exposure or simply for fun!
Yeah, they COULD have at least one of eachmodel, but I can tell you they get enough business that their gear isn't going to sit there as long as it takes them to build another one!
2. Ahhh, that's where daviSound stands alone... They DO have some specs. up after some feedback comments, but, I encourage you to contact them if you want more. Thing is, they give you enough such as Combined Noise and Distortion, Typical Maximum Signal Levels, Normal Input and Output Impedances, and the types of capacitors and resistors used as much as anyone else. Most of the time, much more specs. and you'll be judging it's quailty from them...
Most people agree that specs. can be made into whatever the manufacturer wants them to be. Heck, even Stephen Paul the mad scientist agrees specs. don't tell you shit! It's ALL what you ears tell you... Yeah, the noise floor may be WAY too damn high even for consumer use... BUT, is most the noise where the ear is most sensitive or in the range the ear can hear? Only way to find-out is listen!
3. "Also, please note that where necessary for shielding purposes, wooden panels and cabinet coverings interiors are copper ground-plane shielded ...and inter-connected with copper braid ground strap." Let me tell you... NO grounding problems with my ALL wood TB-1!
4. Of course I agree with you there... It's improved with some of my suggestions, but it's still very scattered. Most of the stuff you want to know is SOMEWHERE in there though... The thing with their website is tht it's laid-out to be read from beginning to end! It's not really made to be browsed. On one hand, that's proably not a good thing for the new comers who had their ears perked, but not enough to read ALL that as with the net now days, it's have all the info in a list that I can print out and I'm on to the next...
And yeah, feedback to DaviSound would be a good thing! In fact, a Feedback/Questions Page IS in the works so if you anyone has asked the same question you're interested in, you can read the answer there. If your question has not already been asked not, you could ask and have the answer posted there for all to see.
BUT, I'm glad you've at least looked! That's all I've really suggested (though my opinion is the reason why) and hoped people here would do!
