At first I thought it was a power soak, but as it was found out it's a tuner.

What's a tuner?

I believe this is actually a sea bass, but it's a similar concept...

You twang the strings randomly and women worship you. Or is it men? I can never remember..

golly guys ...... com'n ..... it's a strobe.

I know I'm a piano tuner but have strobes really died away so much that people don't recognize them?

Holy crap I'm old ............ next stop ........................... death!

Well shit ........ I need a beer.

:(

ah .......... better!

:drunk:

It's ok. At my ripe, old age of 19, I was able to successfully identify it. Hope that makes you feel better! :D

That's only because your eyes are better than most of the old farts here! :laughings:

:laughings: It's a fretless sea bass at that.

The strings are intentionally that loose to hit the sub audio fundamentals. It has something to do with subliminal messaging...

I didn't think that strobe tuners were really all that outdated. I used to see them in high schools and colleges. In my last year of college (ended earlier this june), we still had a strobe tuner in the band room. I used it on occasion if I'd forgotten my own tuner.

Oh thanks.
So is there something better about a strobe tuner than most other $20 or so electronic tuners out there?

Yes it's analog and so by default much much better than anything digital and endows warmth to your tuning rather than sterile tuning digital tuners provide :)

Ohhhhh :D:drunk: I assumed tuning is tuning and what you tune on doesn't matter :p
So, does that effect overall tone or something?
Are they worlds apart?

Haha just messing with you! ;)

Strobes are supposed to give you a VERY exact tuning, and their margin of error is extremely small, but other than that, nothing special really! I'd stick with a cheap tuner anyday!

Maybe thats why metallica sucks now, cuz they tune their guitars upside down!
