Movie-Magic OST Attempt (Arpache-Halion)

It's difficult to work out what you are doing vs what the machine is doing but a few things stand out. Every note, every chord seems to be the same vlume and the same loudness. Music for images always ebbs and flows, with quiet bits, then loud bits when things on screen happen - musical hit points. The tempo is quite rigid too, but what stands out for me is how the chords and the melody often fight - a not in one or the other stands out as a clash, and some of the chord changes do strange things - one they're unexpected, and are an unusual choice, that the melody line has an argument with. Nothing wrong with surprise shifts to chords outside the usual gamut of the key sig, shocks can be great - but the melody has to lead to them, like a story being told heading to a climax and then bang - a change. These changes are not reflected in what the melody does, it noodles on as before paying no attention to the chord progressions. In orchestral music, and especially synthesised stringy stuff, it is important to think how players interact. If one is playing C, another playing E and the last one playing G - then they combine to a C Major chord - nice. If they need to change to an F Major chord, usually the first one on C carries on playing it, and the other two both go up a whole step - that is smooth, Having C move to F, E move to A and G move to A is a lurch - and some of yours shift quite a bit. It's not wrong, but just unusual and a sort of 'cough'. If you look at the screen, the chords are all visibly moving in parallel, not wrong, but different? How much velocity change are there from note to note - they sound like a pretty fixed velocity - all the same, and faders can't put that back.Cubase can randomise this kind of thing but note on timing and velocity seems quite locked to the grid - all identical attacks and sustains. Did you compose it to picture?

I agree with Rob that there's no dynamic in the song. Everything feels the same volume. I feel like the synth chords can get kinda muddy sounding, especially in the lower regions, maybe add some accoustic strings instead to blend with the synths?

With some more dynamic and reverb it can sound very big, like you're floating in outer space, but it needs some work I think.
