What is the most value for money DI box?

Behringer has a number of different DI boxes. Some work very well and others are not good at all. The ones that have any kind of battery options are problematic.

I use a Whirlwind Direct2. 2 DI's in one, does the hum-drum duty as required. It IS build like a tank though.

You are planning on pluging it into the direct out of your amp, right? I wouldn't plug it into the speaker output.

Hellooooo!!!?!?!?! Magarious, you didn't respond to this. If you got a passive IMP or the like, you are going to burn something up running a speaker level signal into it. Be careful. There are DIs designed to take a speaker level signal... but the passive cheapies out there are NOT designed for this.

I definatly agree with Xstatic.

The BSS AR 133 DI reallly shines.

I have a Tanglewood Jumbo gutair' and my preamp pick up died on me on the gutiar.

It would cost around £300 to get a new decent pick up so I got the guy to just fit a low impendence pick up so I can put my jack lead straght in.

Since I brought the BSS DI box and connected that to my mixer through an XLR, it has really transformed the sound , you can hear each note with clarity and you have loads of headroom.

If you own a....

practice amp with an earphone jack, it will work as a direct in. Let me clarify. I record electric guitar direct this way. For my purposes it works great. I get all the tonal functions of the amp with none of the speaker noise. I don't know your set up but, I record in to an analog mixer with direct outs to an Alesis 24 track hard disk recorder. I've had no problems with this set up. I never owned the recomended Countryman D.I. but I figured I didn't need to spend the money if the above described method works. I hope this may help.
