Looking to buy some mics for recording and vocals. Used in both my studio and on stage. Small budget. Best bang for the buck???

Yikes. I don't know if they exist. Some sort of Naiant mic maybe? You're not going to get much for under $50. Maybe a banged up SM57, if you're lucky.

$50 won't get you too far, especially for a vocal mic. recording is def not a poor man's hobby

Naiant or Behringer ECM8000. Although neither are ones I would recommend for vocals. My friend has gotten good results using the Naiant as a vocal mic for his mother. It actually sounds really good. But she's also a really good singer.

If you go with an SDC omni make sure to keep your distance from the mic...

Thats a good deal for a 10pack. A person could outfit an entire basic band for $199. (thinking of my sons gang of gearheads)

I like the fact they changed up a few things, though they do copy the Shure style down to the paint color. Always amazed me on this stuff? Whats the point of a patent? but thats off topic....

Anyway, really nice deal. KVybes are they built pretty good as far as kicking around dropping etc..like the Shure 57's?

hmmm...$199 for 10 mics.... damn. I bought some of the PG58's and couldn't here a difference to the SM58. So of course save some $$$$:D.

Too bad they don't copy the SM-7....get a few SM-7's for $200!! thats what I'm talkin about..:)

...they are just as solid/durable as the originals (IMHO)...hefty and very nicely built...almost identical to the Shures...they are, however, more sensitive, so while they require less gain, they are also susceptable to distortion due to too much gain...you have to just watch the gain levels when doing a soundcheck...on the plus side, they also have a "presence" factor which (IMHO) is superior to the originals...especially on live vocals...we have A/B'd them against the Shures when setting up for a gig, and everybody prefers the GLS mics...the musicians are always blown away that these thing sell for so little...

...I agree that they should look into an SM7 version, but that would be too good to be true...in the meantime, these ES57 and ES58 are a great "tools" for anyone's mic cabinet..."bang-for-the-buck" champs, for sure!...

Shure PG48 and PG58 are very close to your price range, and very decent vocal mics. You could find either of them for 50 or 60 bucks. A friend of mine uses them in his homestudio and has good luck with them.

...the GLS ES-58 is only $29 and is (IMHO) decidedly superior than both of those Shure models...it is comparable to the SM58 but at about 30% the cost...

lol, kidvybes, I bet they've sold a boatload of these GLS mics since your post last week. They really should give you a commission.

Seriously, I've never read a negative review of these GLS mics. They are good mics that just happen to be inexpensive. Perfect for a really "low" $50.00 budget unless you want to go with a cheap "used" condenser like the MXL 990. However, you will find several negative reviews of the 990 on this board.

...yeah, I hate it when I sound like a "pitchman" but there are a few great values out there, and when I find one, I'm relentless :D...all the items I've gotten from SpeakerRepair.co were excellent value, but those mics are simply "stupid cheap"...I have circulated a bunch thru my crew of session guys, and everybody wants one or more for their arsenal...I quite enjoy turning people on to a good thing...and these mics are at the top of the list...(sh*t...there I go again!)...somebody stop me! ;)
