You might find that there are drummers, right here on this site that would jump at the chance to put a drum part on your song.

Try it, it's fun!!

hey rfeber

rfeber,

I use a Alesis SR16 and its pretty good the only thing is that it is getting a little bit out of date. Im currently looking into the Korg EA-1. I'll sell you my drum machine for $150.00 so I can get a new one!

I use boss Dr-5, it's good if you take time with it. You can mess with the pitch and decay and swing and you can get pretty intricate with it. You can do step or realtime recording, make all kinds of custom kits, it's easy to use and the other inst. are pretty good too, I think the bass and piano are the best and it runs about $200-$250

try sonic foundry

You can try sonic foundry.

it's really cheap...and the loops CDs are all recorded by live drummers, so even though you are looping, it still feels alot more "real" than any drum machine. i've had it for like 2 months and i made a CD with it and my wimpy Tascam 424 analog 4 track. i'm a newbie to this mix down stuff (a lot harder than i ever imagined) but sonic foundry is a good option. Cakewalk is better but like 4 x the price. you could probably get it on ebay for cheaper.

if you want to hear some of my stuff i got recorded (remember this is on a wimpy 4 track with no effects or compression) go to:

(i know it's worship music, but just listen for the drum samples)

I have yet to find one better than the Zoom RT-123. Cymbols are great and it has great bass too.
The cymbols are bad on the SR16. The SR18 has lousy bass. THe Zoom 223 has lousy bass.
I have not found software that works as well as a drum machine. Unless you use loops (lame)......

Bump much?

But seriously. This thread is VINTAGE!!! Check out all the awkward stares at "fruity loops" when it was new on the scene (and still called fruityloops!) I thought I was in some sort of weird time warp when no one recommended he get a trigger finger and EZ-Drummer right out the bat, and then I realized, I WAS! 2000, you were so good to us!!

lol. Thats so funny I was just reading throught the thread and taking notes on what software and drum machines to buy. Then just realised as you did that the thread is like 9 years old. Good job i noticed before I went out to spend money on these vintage items. Shows hoe much experience I have haha

The Boss Dr Groove

Wow a thread thats 11 years old COol!

As someone else also mentioned, I really liked the Boss Dr Groove for many years. Its got many many sounds, all the classic drum-machine kits. Its a bit steep learning curve at the start, but if you persevere, you can get great results, plus onboard filtering and delay, that can be tweaked real time, its a great "live" machine... Bit almopst te best thing for me was that it had a built in 2 track sequencer. One using internal sounds, and one which just sends midi notes out. However both midi channels for both voices can be selected, so you can drive 2 synths (one bass, one ..er.. melody) Both voices are polyphonic, and can do all manner of slides and tweaks. You DO need to be a really anal and fiddly programmer tho, if you like going in and tweaking minute details its great...

And what do you know... Im selling mine on Ebay right now.. REALLY sorry for the spam, but I hope it can go to a great new home, cos Im just doing slightly different music now, and mostely on the PC. Heres the Item number: 260745263931

Cheers
